Vanessinha & Alessandra

Vanessinha & Alessandra - Gira
I moved to Hawaii a few days ago, about an hour's drive from Honolulu. My sanity isn't in jeopordy or anything like that. Just getting used to a different more relaxed pace of life (see: polychronic). Someone borrowed my sunglasses from my car. They haven't returned them yet but I'm sure they will. Highlight so far has been driving along the shore in my '87 Chrysler Fifth Avenue (pictured) listening to hot music like this.

Ratatat

I saw this picture before I heard the album and pleaded with the Lord that there would be a song good enough to put up, that I might post this picture. And my cries were heard and milk and honey did flow forth, that the people might feast. And behold, a Ratatat fingerprint was found on the song. And the people did rejoice.
Album comes out Tuesday.

DeVoTchKa

This is the track the plays at the end of the Everything Is Illuminated trailer (which movie was an impressive adaptation of an impossible-to-adapt book).
Also, it's pronounced "DYEV-otch-ka" (po moemu).
Devotchka has other good things for your ear.

Ellen Allien & Apparat

Ellen Allien & Apparat - Leave Me Alone
Ellen Allien and Apparat, two headstrong musicians with different musical approaches, have collaborated on an album together called Orchestra of Bubbles. Bringing together their unique electronic styles, this musical joint-venture straddles the line between dancefloor and home-listening, drawing on influences from glitch to minimal and dub to electronica with flashes of orchestral strings, beautiful melodies and Ellen’s trademark hypnotic rhythms.

Jim Noir

Any time there is a musician called Jim Noir I will listen to his song. Especially when it's as dreamy as this. This song somehow feels very safe and familiar within a few seconds--like something glorious I heard a long time ago and had forgotten about.
Jim Noir has an album coming out next week (August 8) that can and should be ordered here.
