Tap Tap

Tap Tap - Come On Feet

It's been a good spell since I've enjoyed a record this much. It manages to keep the rarely-managed balance between earnest and playful.

---> And it's only $7 <--- This includes shipping.

Edwyn Collins & Orange Juice - Witchcraft

The opening 30 seconds of this track sound an awful lot like a Dr. Dre production. And then you quickly realize it's anything but. The original version was penned (I believe) by Cy Coleman and has been performed by Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Marvin Gaye. None of them are as sultry and Jarvis Cockery as this one.

Fifths of Seven

Fifths of Seven - Echoes From a Wandered Path

Their debut album of pure beauty is centered around the unusual quality in tone of the instruments and the high development of simple melodies, which place Fifths of Seven somewhere between Erik Satie, folkloric Eastern European music and, of course, the Constellation "post-rock" galaxy.

Fifths of Seven is a trio comprised of cellist Beckie Foon (A Silver Mt. Zion and Set Fire to Flames), mandolin-player Rachel Levine and pianist Spencer Krug ( Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown).

The Monorchid

The Monorchid - Alias Directory

Every once in a while I like a good racket. The Monorchid was a short-lived DC act in the late 90s. Kind of reminds me of Fugazi. Thanks to Charla for this.

Franz Ferdinand & Jane Birkin

Franz Ferdinand & Jane Birkin - A Song for Sorry Angel (Serge Gainsbourg cover) (MP3)

I've returned from my trip abroad (fun, informative, etc.) and will be back to more frequent updates (twice a week). This first track is the highlight from the Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited CD, wherein several artists cover some of his songs. I thought getting this CD was kind of special because it's nor for sale in the US, but you can get it used on amazon or ebay. Or get it new for $30.
