Flop

MP3: Flop - The Great Valediction
I thought this was the cat's meow my freshman year in college (13 years yore). Driving guitars and catchy.
I'm in London now and there's no need to leave this place.

Architecture in Helsinki/Max Tundra

Architecture in Helsinki - The Owls Go (Max Tundra Remix)
This "remix" seems more like a cover than a remix. But it's not a cover either. Maybe it's a mashup and I just don't know. I'm in Edinburgh, Scotland right now which means I don't plan on researching this any time soon. The picture is Max Tundra doing a Tom impression on myspace.
I imagine posts on Leaf & Lime will be a little sparse through next week while I'm abroad. So many good record stores here. The worst record store here is better than the best record store back home and I hope to find summat new.
Some people have told me that the mp3s on Leaf & Lime don't download properly. I'll look into this when I return and hopefully get a fix.

Sparklehorse

Sparklehorse - Almost Lost My Mind
Turns out that forgotten pleasantries of yore can sneak up on a guy when he works into the wee hours and his guard is down. I hadn't heard this trashy song for a good spell and was pleased to reacquaint myself with it.
Sparklehorse has been mostly quiet for the last 5 years. This will end in September when a new Sparklehorse LP is released. It will feature collaborations with Dangermouse, Christian Fennesz, and Tom Waits. This is an excellent band.

Tacks, The Boy Disaster

Tacks, the Boy Disaster - Frozen Feet
Lots of keyboards as you can see in the picture. Singing in harmonies. Couldn't decide between this track and "Forget Me Not" (which should be heard at the Tacks, the Boy Disaster myspace page) but decided to go with the cool church organ sound. Couldn't find an official site but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

David Fridlund & Sara Culler

David Fridlund & Sara Culler - Wave of Mutilation
This piano-poppy duet comes from a Pixies tribute that came out last fall called La La Love You. David Fridlund and Sara Culler live in Sweden and David fronts the band David & The Citizens.

Tap Tap

These half-melancholy Tap Tap songs keep sneaking up on a guy (thanks to The Catbirdseat who says the upcoming Tap Tap album Lanzafame is: amazing). I've heard 3 tracks so far and all of them gently urge me out of bed. [Also check out "Come On Feet" at the myspace page].
