Final Fantasy

First, get a new band name. You don't name your band after a video game unless it's Bionic Commando.
Second, Final Fantasy is one man, Owen Pallett. He is from Toronto and belongs to another band called Les Mouches and I read somewhere that he is connected to The Hidden Cameras. I saw him open for the Arcade Fire in San Diego a couple of weeks ago. Just him and his violin. He'd play an a few bars and had a toy that turned them into loops and he'd sing and play on top of the loop. Quite fantastic. He also played violin with the Arcade Fire. My ear is still ringing from that show.

he played for about 45 minutes. it was really engaging. the cd is cool and i suggest buying it ($15) but he is a performer you need to see live. lucky that you get to see him in ny. let me know the title of track 10 if you end up getting it.Posted by: jimweed at January 30, 2005 06:44 PM
I came across your blog by searching for info on Final Fantasy. I saw him last night in DC opening for the Arcade Fire. And I couldnt buy his cd because they were all gone by the time i got back from the ATM, so i was wondering if you made me a copy of his cd, I would love to send you a mix cd. I dunno, if you're interested please email me. Im always looking for a pen palPosted by: Alexandra at January 31, 2005 04:50 PM
thanks for the mp3. nice song. he played for about an hour in dc, and had completely won the audience over by the end of it. great au revoir simone track also, btw.Posted by: r at February 3, 2005 10:59 PM
Track 10 is "Library". The album is a really engaging listen, especially "The CN Tower Belongs To The Dead" but he's much better live. The album sounds overproduced and a bit boring in comparison.Posted by: Alex at February 4, 2005 02:28 PM
agreed that live is better than album. it was actually track 9 that i posted. i screwed something up when i imported them but now it's fixed.Posted by: jimweed at February 4, 2005 08:06 PM
