The Spontaneous Wild Fire of Youth
Os Mutantes - Panis et Circenses

Os Mutantes are from Brazil and they sing in Brazilian and they made up their songs back in the late 60s and early 70s when culture was at the peak of civilization. This style of music is called Tropicalia which is basically a name to descibe psychedelic experimental music that came from Brazil at that time. This really is an excellent song.

More Arcade Fire
Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)
Prolly my favorite song of the year.
You might think it's a bit over the top, melodramatic, histrionic, whatever. And you might be right. I think it's one of the most sincere and authentic songs I've heard, ever. There is an emotional crescendo that almost climaxes halfway through the song, subsides, builds back up, and hits the crux in the last act. This song will bring a tear to my eye when I allow it. Not so much the lyric (although I really like what I can decipher of the lyric), but the music itself. Apparently the band members experienced a series of deaths in the family and their sadness (coexisting with hope) is evident in the music. The album is titled "Funerals."
There is a lot of hype around Arcade Fire right now which may scare some of you off and I guess that makes sense since hype can be annoying (like the hype around that movie Garden State where feigned honesty rendered contrived and specious innocence, even though there were some nice moments). But it (hype) don't come out of a vacuum either.

This photo is from an MP3 blog called Stereogum where you can many good things.

Go!
I like this stuff okay. It makes me want to do things. The first one is a good way to start your day if you have an MP3 alarm clock. It's a little pop, a little 60's, some powerpuff, and a little bis.
Also, something's messed up with the old entries and I'm too tired to deal with it right now.

Taco Lettuce Crunch Crunch
The Fiery Furnaces - Chris Michaels
I didn't like this album much when I first got it but it has subsequently grown on me. Sometimes it feels like they improvised the bridges in the songs the day they were recording and it gets a little lost. But then they recover into something that works so maybe the rambling is deliberate. This is my favorite track from the album.

Don't Judge It
Raw energy and sass. Good for a dance party. Her own decisions. Erotic. Whatever. Make up your own minds.
